Curriculum

Sara Roda is a researcher in the LSTS research group and DPIA Lab since October 2018. Her main research interests are data protection, innovation/experimentation in law, robotic law, human-robot interactions, artificial intelligence and ethics, PNR data and law enforcement access to data. She is currently preparing her PhD on regulatory sandboxes, innovation and data protection. 

Sara graduated from Lisbon University Law School in 2001 (public law option). She holds a “DES – Diplome d’études specialisés” in public and administrative law from the Université Libre de Bruxelles law school from 2006 and an LLM in International and European Law from VUB/IES - Institute of European Studies in Brussels from 2018. She worked as a lawyer in Lisbon at Abreu, Cardigos & Associados (currently Abreu Advogados) and at ABBC Law firm (currently DLA Piper) in the areas of public and administrative law until moving to Brussels in 2009. She then worked for almost seven years as a legal and senior policy officer at the CED – Council of European Dentists (not-for-profit association)gaining experience in EU affairs and lobbying. She obtained a data protection officer certificate from the Belgian Institute of Data Protection in 2017and she is a member of the Portuguese Bar Association.
